Salma Hayek got her big break in Hollywood with a role in the film of Robert Rodriguez Desperado and then climbed to the pinnacle of the industry with her Academy Award-nominated turn in Frida. Salma Hayek Jimenez, daughter of Spanish and Lebanese parents was born in Mexico on the 2nd of September 1996, at Coatzacoalcos. Hayek was raised by a wealthy Catholic family. The convent she attended when she was 12 years old in Louisiana before moving to Houston with her aunt during her teens. The first film role Hayek landed her decision to move into Los Angeles was in 1991. She wanted to master her English in order to become an Hollywood actor. Her first roles were small however, she was eventually cast alongside Antonio Banderas on the set of 1995's Desperado.
